Q: Do I get a discount if I’m a member of the Alliance?

A: Yes! Member pricing for French classes is part of your membership benefits.

Q: Will we meet the Thursday of Thanksgiving?

A: Class will not meet on Thanksgiving so students and teachers can enjoy the holiday.

Q: Are classes recorded?

A: Class sessions will not be recorded. Attendance is required from each student the day-of.

Q: How can I access the class on Zoom?

A: Students will receive an email from their teacher prior to the start of the first class with login details and instructions. This will include the Zoom link for your specific group.

Q: Which levels do you offer?

A: There will be at least three levels offered this session:  beginner, intermediate and advanced.

Q: This is my first time studying French – do I need to take the placement exam?

A: Students that have never taken a French class prior to enrolling will be automatically placed in the beginner’s level. The placement exam is meant for students that have taken French classes before, and are therefore familiar with the language to some extent.

Q: Do you get a certificate at the end of the session?

A: Since students do not take tests or exams in our classes, we do not issue a certificate.

Q: I’m not sure which level is right for me. Which class do I sign up for?

A: It’s ok, we can help! Contact Julie Jacobs, our coordinator, for a language assessment to place you in the appropriate level. You can get in touch with Julie at classes@afsanantonio.org

Q: How many students are in each class?

A: Class size will be roughly 10 to 12 students. This is to ensure students have the right online environment to participate and to practice speaking.

Q: I’m a returning student and really liked my teacher from a previous session. Can I continue taking class with the same teacher?

A: Returning students may have the choice to continue with the same instructor, depending on the levels offered and the availability of our teachers for the current session. We will try our best to accommodate your preferences.

Q: Is the location the same as in previous sessions?

A: We are not offering in-person classes at this time, as we wish to maintain social distancing to protect students and teachers. All classes will take place online through Zoom.
