Absolute Beginner French A1.1 w/Dr. Bobb Rousseau (In-Person)
This class is intended for absolute beginners, with no previous experience, looking to build a foundation in the French language. Classes are progressive. Absolute beginners work their way up from A1.1 progressing through to A1.6. After A1, students move on to A2, to B1, to B2, etc. Example syllabi for coursework can be found on the website.
This 12-week class meets in-person on Wednesdays from 6:30pm-8pm. Classes meet 12 consecutive weeks beginning January 22nd; 29th; February 5th; 12th; 19th; 26th; March 5th; 12th; 19th; 26th; April 2nd and conclude April 9th.

The focus of this 4-week class is Corsica. In this class you’ll learn some history and facts about this fascinating island and what makes it so special. Classes will be comprised of some lecturing and shared texts to be read aloud by students for practice speaking. Do you love the sound of the French language, but struggle to get your mouth to move like the French do? This course will focus on improving
French pronunciation for native English speakers. We will tackle some of the more challenging phonemes and look for patterns between
spelling and pronunciation so that you can more accurately guess how to pronounce even unknown words. We will work with everyday vocabulary
in addition to idiomatic expressions and tongue twisters. All are welcome but this course is recommended for students at an A2-B1

Sentence Building Workshop w/Juliette (Zoom)
Bienvenue à la fabrique de phrases ! In this workshop, we’ll build sentences from common verbs: aller/venir, regarder/voir, savoir/connaître, etc. How to build useful sentences? With which words and/or prepositions are these verbs used? The aim of this class is to enrich your vocabulary and to help you build sentences that you can later use in your everyday life. At the end of this class, you’ll also be able to utilize the same techniques with other verbs.

When faced with a text in French, a lot of students panic. They see a word they don’t know, then their brain goes blank. In this class, we’ll learn to keep our wits while playing with literature (classic and contemporary). Each class, we’ll read an extract with missing words. We’ll read it out loud to practice our pronunciation skills, we’ll learn techniques/tricks to decipher the meaning of words and to find out which words go where.

French-speaking countries. You will utilize RFI’s “Le journal en Français Facile” podcast, a publicly supported nonprofit organization
that’s existed for 23 years and offers a wide range of subjects in its news broadcasts. See samples of the podcast on their website. By
delving into topical news stories, students enhance their language skills, expand vocabulary, and sharpen comprehension abilities. Through
the analysis of the news segments, learners gain valuable insight into both language proficiency and cultural awareness, making this class
an enriching and practical experience in mastering French at an intermediate level.
