About Us

Founded in 1883, the Alliance Française is an international organization whose goal is to promote French language and culture around the world.

Among the founding members are scientist Louis Pasteur and diplomat Ferdinand de Lesseps, author Jules Verne, writer Ernest Renan and publisher Armand Colin.

The Alliance Française has 111 chapters in 45 states.

The Alliance Française de San Antonio offers classes for absolute beginner, beginner and intermediate-level French-language students.

We also organize other French cultural events throughout the year, such as screenings of French films, special French-themed dinners, and wine tastings.  We are also proud to participate in the Texas Folklife Festival, held each June at the Institute of Texan Cultures.
